Prior to the framing process starting on the house, our contractor asked that we have the following picked out and ordered: cabinets, flooring and lighting. I've been super lucky and have been working with a local designer who has helped me source items that are within, or closest to, our tiny allowance budget. I'm especially excited about the glass tile back splash for the kitchen and the pendant for the breakfast nook! Here is the tentative plan:

Labor Day Weekend
This weekend was great! I had the opportunity to fly down to Blue Mountain Lodge, my Dad's hunting and fishing outfit, on the beautiful Alaska Peninsula. My Dad, a Master Guide, purchased the lodge in 1983, at the ripe old age of 23, and has operated it ever since. My sister, brother and I spent most of our summers and falls growing up down at "camp" so it will always have a very special place in our hearts.
Here are a few of my favorite photos from the trip:

Laying the Foundation!
Awesome news - the foundation is finished! I'm so excited to see some progress!!!! Since the lot is on my way into town+work I stop by almost every day to see what's been done. Usually, to my great dismay, it's nothing BUT this last Thursday I was pleasantly surprised by this:

A little about the lot
Sooo, here are a few photos of the lot, taken on July 25th, 10 days after they were supposed to start tearing down the "buildings" that currently live there.
These photos don't do it much justice, it's really gorgeous. At .96 acres, it's also prime real estate in Eagle River. Lots this big are very hard to come by, especially in the our price range.
